What is Invitation to Mosaic?
I2M was originally a one day event that took place simultaneously in Portland and Seattle for PacNWC High School Youth Ministries. We present it here as a resource for youth ministries to use in their weekly or special event programming.
We designed Invitation to Mosaic to be a plug and play resource. We set out to provide high quality elements for a one day event. Elements Include:
- Session Videos featuring messages introducing students to God’s heart for justice by Dominique Gilliard and Tarah Hollingsworth
- Extensive Leader’s Guide with ideas and instructions for various retreat types, information on our thinking behind the theme, help for successful sessions and more.
- Media Files giving you everything you need to promote and execute your event.
- Small Group Guide connecting discussions with the session messages and themes.
- Activity Guide for a video scavenger hunt.
- Swag to spice up your event that is connected to our theme, Once Upon A Thunder
Theme:
We will unpack our theme, Exploring God’s Heart for Racial Justice, through our session messages and other activities. Our goal is unity instead of division. We hope that students and leaders from every background and ideology will feel welcome as we talk about God’s heart for justice for all. Our morning session message by Dominique Gilliard will unpack the Biblical narrative focusing how God’s heart for justice is exemplified through the life of Jesus. Our afternoon session message will encourage participants to see and respond to the hurting, downtrodden and neglected among us.

Although our program content will be introductory in nature, we understand that race and justice can be difficult topics. We are working hard to ensure these events are safe places for everyone where respect and understanding are emphasized.
