Sharing the Harvest 2024
October 26 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm
THERE IS STILL WORK TO BE DONE…
The 2024 edition of the State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World (SOFI) report was just released and although it shows small improvements in some areas, overall there is still a tremendous amount of work to be done.
In 2023, 2.3 billion people (29% of the global population) faced moderate or severe food insecurity. 2.8 billion weren’t able to afford healthy diets. Hunger is on the rise in Africa, while the levels have stayed the same in Asia, and even improved in Latin America. 1 in 11 people globally and 1 in 5 in Africa faced hunger last year.
Yet in West Pokot, Kenya, Jitokeze, a ministry supported by Pacific Northwest Conference Churches through Sharing the Harvest, is empowering women in community and economic development to help people take a bite out of hunger.
Last year, Sharing the Harvest had a record-breaking year. We raised $37,141 in combined apple sales and donations: $32,846 went to support sustainable ag development through Jitokeze Wamama Wafrika in Kenya, and $4,295 went to support Growing Hope’s work to establish new growing projects. 675 people found lasting solutions to hunger because of your support!
Over the last 12 years together we have been able to raise more than $214,000 to demonstrate the love of God through Sharing the Harvest. *Thank you for all that you have done!*
We hope you will sign up for Sharing the Harvest 2024 today so you can be a part of taking a bite out hunger and malnutrition, enjoy some tasty apples, and join with other churches at our Sharing the Harvest 2024 Packing Day on Saturday, October 26th.
For the last several years Pacific Northwest Conference Churches have joined to take a bite out of hunger by purchasing apples through Sharing the Harvest (STH). STH sells Yakima-area apples (3 Varieties at $10/10 lb.) to participating PacNWC churches and all those resources go to Jitokeze Wamama Wafrika, an organization in West Pokot, Kenya that is empowering women in agriculture and community development. Watch the short video below for a brief explanation of Sharing the Harvest and how one woman’s life was changed through Jitokeze and then sign-up to participate in Sharing the Harvest 2020.

Sales of apples will benefit individuals assisted by Jitokeze Wamama Wafrika. Jitokeze seeks to empower marginalized and vulnerable girls and women in West Pokot Kenya to overcome poverty and improve their resilience to the impacts of climate change as well as contribute to building sustainable communities where they dwell.
Get Your Church Involved.
Maybe you thought about it in the past, but this can be the year your participation can empower your church, provide some tasty Yakima apples, and make a powerful impact. We will not have our full Packing Day Celebration, but we’ll have the same great apples.
