Women Ministries 2018 Spring Celebration Report
By Julie Breston
On Saturday, March 17th, Cascade Covenant Church in North Bend WA hosted the WMPacNWC 5th annual Women’s Spring Celebration. One hundred and forty women from more than 30 churches around our four-state conference attended this one-day event featuring nationally known author and speaker Dee Brestin who brought the Truth in love from Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon and Psalms. Dee’s great insight brought the gospel of Jesus Christ to life for us. She effectively used video and audio to share stories and testimonies from young struggling moms to women in prison who have been set free from bondage and are experiencing new life in Christ.
One woman from Gig Harbor wrote, “My highlight was Dee’s Biblical teaching. I laughed, cried, worshipped and praised Jesus! Do it again! The decorations and thoughtful touches were lovely. They made me feel special and pampered.”
A tearful young lady said, “God used this to open my eyes to self-pain.”
And another wrote, “Today I saw that ‘idolatry’ is turning a good thing into an ultimate thing. I’ve got some soul-searching to do with God.”
Ladies had numerous inspiring workshops to choose from including:
Recovery for Everyone– Led by Amy Muia
God In an Unlikely Place: Lessons from the Skagit County Jail– Led by Amy Muia
Acoustic Worship with Megan Bent and Melanie Yancey
Story Ropes – Led by Malialani Dullanty
Women Reaching Women– Led by Tina Osterhouse
In Spanish! Nuestro Puente– Por Tina Osterhouse
We were invited to shop at the Market Place which featured handmade Abundant Life Center bags and purses from our sisters in Thailand and books and bible study guides from Dee Brestin. Prayer rooms and creative worship stations for journaling and creativity were available for women all day.
It was a moving experience to see such a variety of women from all over gather to celebrate our great God and hear about what He is doing in women ministries in our denomination and around the world.
