Friday Afternoon Workshops
The Post-Church Church, 1:00 – 2:30pm
Soon, America will emerge into a post-Trump, post-Floyd, post-pandemic, and post-Christian world. Pre-pandemic, 20% of Americans attended Sunday church service; now we’re down to less than 8%, 40% of what it used to be. Let’s look at some trends together, their implications, and how the Holy Spirit might be reviving our churches. Presented by the PacNWC Ministerial Association. Facilitated by Peter Sung, PacNWC Coach.
Trauma Healing Care, 1:00 – 2:30pm
This session will focus on trauma-informed care to gain a deeper understanding of the impacts of trauma and abuse. We’ll learn healing practices for our own body, soul, story, and relationships, and for others. Facilitated by Wendell Moss, LMHC, and Abby Wong-Heffter, LMHC, who both serve as trainers on the teaching staff of the Allender Center at The Seattle School.
Crescendo: Discipleship with and for Boomers and Beyond, 3:00 – 4:30pm
Crescendo, an initiative of Make and Deepen Disciples, is focused on equipping pastors, staff, and church leaders to unleash the potential of boomers and beyond to engage in the work of God’s kingdom. Join Crescendo Coaches Eunice Johnson and Sammi McCubbins as they set forth the “Spices Framework” and Crescendo process designed to support, engage and mobilize the 60+ community in churches today.
Taking Your Church’s Temperature, 3:00 – 4:30pm
An introduction to pHcheck, the new church assessment tool from ECC Missional Vitality. This new tool, accessed completely online, measures church health in three main areas—missional identity, vision, and leadership. In the workshop, you will learn what extensive research revealed about church health, will experience the new survey, and will gain insights into your own church’s missional health. Facilitated by Rev. Mary Hendrickson, Director of Congregational Vitality, Start and Strengthen Churches, ECC.
