Biography

Rev. Dawn Taloyo serves the Pacific Northwest Conference as the Associate Superintendent. She is Ordained to Word and Sacrament in the Evangelical Covenant Church and completed a Master of Divinity degree at Fuller Theological Seminary with a specialization in spirituality and spiritual direction.

Ministry experience over the years has included part-time staff with InterVarsity Christian fellowship, adjunct teaching, retreat leading, spiritual direction, and serving as the Associate Pastor at Trinity Covenant Church in Salem Oregon. She has served on PacNWC staff since 2016.

Responsibilities:

Dawn loves the Church and is committed to its health and growth. She is focused on “building up the body of Christ” by providing a welcoming, thoughtful space for deeper healing and spiritual maturity whether through preaching, teaching or retreat leading. She counts it a privilege to come alongside church leaders and staff to consult on any variety of topics including transitions, spiritual formation, prayer, family systems, retreats, etc.

In her role she is also committed to the health and well-being of pastors, chaplains and their families. She does this by way of providing pastoral care, spiritual direction, coaching, and spaces for connection. She also consults with church leadership teams and pastoral relation committees to advocate for the care of pastors and staff.

Interests:

Dawn considers herself a lifelong learner and a contemplative at heart. In recent years, she received training in Centering Prayer, the Enneagram, and Bowen Family Systems theory. She also loves to walk, not only for exercise, but as her daily prayer rhythm. Walking and prayer also find expression in her love of prayer labyrinths. A few years back, with the help of a sabbatical grant and the assistance of family and friends, she built a labyrinth in her backyard.

She and her husband love to explore cities and new places on foot. A few years back they walked a portion of the Camino de Santiago together.

While native to California, she appreciates the benefits of living in the Pacific Northwest: no shortage of beautiful green spaces and places to hike; an abundance of berries to pick; as well as great coffee and wineries to explore.

Dawn and her husband Carlos have been married for over 25 years. They have two adult children.
