Leading Change Amid Turmoil and Conflict

A Workshop for Training Pastors and Church Leaders How to Healthily Respond to Church Conflict With Dr. Peter Steinke

Two of the markerPeter Steinkes of a “Healthy & Missional” Covenant church are “a culture of godly leadership and a “fruitful organizational structure.” Characteristics associated with these markers are that “church leaders at all levels serve with character, competence, and conviction. A spirit of collegiality pervades, with our people trusting our leaders and our leaders trusting our people. We continually identify and train godly leaders for all dimensions of our ministry.” Additionally, churches, “embrace evaluation as normal and natural and work through conflict constructively.”

The purpose of this 1 day workshop is to assist pastors and church leaders to identify ways that the church can “work through conflict constructively.” At the end of the workshop the participants will learn how a church family works and how leaders can function in a healthy way during change and conflict. The workshop will explore the roles of church leaders in conflict.

Peter Steinke writes, “Change is the new constant and change creates anxiety and resistance. The functioning of leaders during this time is critical to the ability of the organization to maintain its commitment to its mission.” This workshop will be helpful to church leaders who are experiencing transitions, conflict, demographic or economic challenges.

Pastors and church leaders should plan to attend this workshop. The workshop and process will be most helpful if several church leaders attend with the pastor and staff.
